BOEN TEK BIO
Located
in the Pasar Lama area, his more-than-three-century-old Chinese temple is the
oldest temle in Tangerang. Some sources say that this temple was built in 1684.
Visit at Chinese New Year or 15 days after the New Year (Cap Go Meh Day) and
you will see a lot of interesting activities there.
MASJID PINTU SERIBU
Masjid
Agung Nurul Yaqin or Masjid Pintu Seribu has a realy unique architectural
style. Built in 1977, this mosque has a lot of doors. That’s how it got its
nickname. Inside the mosque there many rooms for praying. There’s also a
special room for those would like to spend a night praying.
MASJID JAMI KALIPASIR
This
mosque is known as the oldest mosque in Tangerang. It was built in 1700 by
Tumenggung Pamit Wijaya from Cirebon. It’s located at the bank of the Cisadane
River. Uniquely, the mosque, which uses green and yellow as its dominant
colors, adopted the Chinese style of architecture.
BENDUNGAN PINTU AIR
SEPULUH
Bendungan
Pintu Air Sepuluh is the popular name of Bendungan Pasar Baru Irigasi Cisadane.
It is also known as Bendungan Sangego by the locals. True to its better-known
name, Bendungan Pintu Air Sepuluh has 10 flood gates, each of them 10 meters
long. The Dutch started to built it in 1927.
PASAR LAMA
People
say that this market was the embryo of Tangerang. Located not far from the
Cisadane River, this market is the evidence that the first trading transactions
took place here. Then more and more people came to stay and started to build
houses in its vicinity.
MUSEUM BENTENG HERITAGE
This
museum is like a treasure in the Pasar Lama area. It was first opento public in
2011. We can learn a lot about the
Chinese culture and the acculturation process between the Chinese native
Indonesians. Information about foot binding, Chinese weddings, the kebaya encim, the Chinese Admiral explores Cheng Ho, and many other
interesting stuff about the chinese can be learnt here.
